About Richard Valenzuela

With over 45 years of professional experience, Richard began his business career in the executive development program at Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, where he quickly rose through the ranks to the executive level. Later, he joined General Tire to run their Southern California company-owned stores, earning a reputation for building high performance teams and profitable stores. He then built his own chain of successful tire and auto service stores, which he ran for 10 years. Richard has a BS in Marketing, two master’s degrees (Counseling & Psychology) and PhD work in Clinical Psychology.

About Sam Valenzuela

Sam has spent over 20 years using technology to solve business problems, in both business and consumer markets, for both small and large companies, including Hewlett-Packard, Sprint, CenturyLink, Artisoft, and LeadPile, making him extremely well-positioned and qualified to bring NABR’s Variable Rate System & BillableGenie technology solutions to the automotive collision repair industry.  Sam graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Finance & Entrepreneurship from the University of Arizona, and earned his MBA in Corporate Strategy and General Management from the University of Michigan Business School.

Mark Olson

Vehicle Collision Experts LLC (VecoExperts)

Biography

Mr. Olson is an original Co-founder and former COO of VeriFacts Automotive LLC and was with the company until November 2016. Currently he is the CEO of Vehicle Collision Experts LLC (VecoExperts). He is also president of Future Forensics – Automotive damage investigations a company he founded in 1997. His companies specialize in partnering with collision repair technicians, shop owner/managers/estimators and forensic evaluations of collision damaged vehicles, quality of repair issues and valuation issues. He has over 37 years’ experience in the collision repair industry, including roles as collision repair and refinish technician, body shop management and ownership. He has also worked as an independent physical damage appraiser and is a former Allstate Insurance Company adjuster. He is a former regional trainer for Hunter Engineering in Missouri, with training centers in Seattle, Portland, Bay area, Orange County and Hawaii.

Known as an expert in the industry, he has been involved in well over 10,000 individual cases as an expert witness in matters of collision repair, vehicle collisions and manufacturer defect. He has also testified in many states in well over 100 cases.

Mr. Olson has traveled all over the United States presenting for I-CAR, VECO Experts and other companies – and also coaching individual technicians and collision repair facilities on the proper repair methods in collision repair and conducting seminars on industry challenges and remedies. He is frequently seen on Collision Hub’s Repair University as a co-host. He has presented many times at NACE, SEMA, NE trade show – and others presenting on the industry issues and challenges.

Responsibility and Liability: Making Certain You are Clear about Both

Erica Eversman

Founder of the non-profit Automotive Education & Policy Institute and Business Consultant with Aunith, LLC

This presentation will address a collision repairer’s responsibility to the consumer and need to exercise professional judgment at all times, despite insurer interference with the collision repair process.  It will also assist professional repairers to prepare customer contracts that outline the customer’s and repairer’s rights and responsibilities regarding the collision repair. Repairers will learn about how insurers’ interference with the collision repair process can expose shops to liability that is unlikely to be covered by garage insurance and how to combat those problems.

Erica L. Eversman is an attorney with decades of experience providing business consulting for the collision repair industry and is the founder of the award-winning non-profit Automotive Education & Policy Institute.  Ms. Eversman is a 2019-2020 consumer liaison to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners where she advocates for consumers’ interests in insurance matters. She is a frequent speaker and author on automotive legal topics, being quoted in such publications as The Wall Street Journal Online, USA Today®, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, and Cars.com.  She was honored by the Society of Collision Repair Specialists in 2019 with its Individual Service Award, by Akzo-Nobel in 2010 as one of the most influential women in the collision industry, was recognized as the 2008 FenderBender Industry Superstars Advocate, and was the 2006 All Auto Appraisal Industry Conference Hall of Fame inductee. Ms. Eversman is recognized nationally as an authority on automotive insurance, diminished value, and collision repair issues and is currently working on several legal matters to further the interests of consumers,  repairers, and manufacturers in promoting safe, quality repairs. Ms. Eversman also received the 2012 Society for Collision Repair Specialist’s Service Award as the founder of the Automotive Education & Policy Institute, a non-profit organization providing consumers and collision repairers with information, tools, and resources on automotive issues and repair practices.
